We finished off the summer and our High Adventure Program with a 10-hour service project at Daleway Park. We spent the day removing ivy and invasive plants from the park to clear the trails and protect the native plant life.
The park visually looked much better at the entrance and we were able to clear away a lot of ivy from the ground and from trees. Deleway Park is unfortunately still full of ivy and it will take a tremendous amount of work to clear away the rest. We will work with the Lynnwood Parks Department to see what we can do in the future.
Pulling ivy for 10 hours was harder than some of the days we had on the Pacific Crest Trail. That said, we where happy to get a chance to help our local community, but were also happy to complete the last of our requirements for the 50-Miler Award for our 2024 High Adventure.
