Owen's Eagle Project

Date: May 19, 2024

The final piece of the restoration of pocket park on 236th and 45th court is being completed by Owen for his Eagle Project. Hundreds of hours goes into planning, organization, fundraising and implementation of an Eagle Project. This park was no exception. Three scouts worked on restoring the trail at this community park in Mountlake Terrace. Owen had the final piece of repairing or replacing split rail fencing along the entire trail.

Thanks to Dunn Lumber and Lowes for their discounts and donations to make this phase possible. Thank you to all the donors that helped! Fundraising was probably the hardest part of this project.

Months of hard work and planning came down to the day of. 5/11/2023. The weather was 70 degrees and perfect under the trees along the trail. First order of business was to partner up and learn what to do. Boys helping boys learn from those who have done this before.

Then the teams broke out. Two scouts to a hole with a two man team following behind with concrete once the depth was hit. The knowlegable adult volunteers were invaluable here. Thank you Marty and Derek! As the day wore on, we marched on down the trail, one hole, one post and two rails at a time. Skills were learned, speed picked up, and fresh bodies showed up to take up the work.

In the end, we decided that fresh legs could help finish the last four holes after the last shift ended. All in all, we finished in one 11 hour day. Thanks to all those who helped throughout the process. Another Troop 60 Eagle Scout Project in the books!
