There are several Scout Units in Lynnwood, and each has their own special personality and draw. Several of Troop 60 Scouts live within walking distance of the other two main troops in Lynnwood, but choose to be a part of Troop 60 in Mountlake Terrace.
Why do we choose Troop 60 over other local Troops? The main draw of 60 is the people that make up Troop 60. The Scouts in our Troop tend to be adventurous as our Adult Leaders, who are also just a really great group of people. Our troop is also unusually drama free a mixed group of youth and adults.
Having adventurous Scouts means that our youth work together to enjoy hard play together. We love the outdoors and focus on the outdoor experience. We advance not by forced classes, but by experiential learning in the backcountry. It works, because our Scouts have fun developing outdoor, interpersonal and leadership skills by being a part of the Scouting experience.
Our Adults are able to support High Adventure activities including Backpacking, Canoeing, Whitewater, Cycling, Shooting Sports, SCUBA, Climbing, Winter Sports and so much more. We are not only trained in skills such as advanced wilderness medicine, winter camping, leave no trace, leadership and shooting sports, we teach these programs to others in our council. We take safety seriously, like to have fun and we get along as a Scouting family should.
Regarding advancement, we follow the BSA guidelines. Nothing more; nothing less. Our Adult Leaders don't get in the way of advancement and are available to help and mentor, as it should be.
Basically, our Troop is All Fun and NO Drama.
Consider Troop 60 if you are looking for the traditional Scouting Experience that focuses on Adventure and Fun. Not sure what that looks like? Come check us out.
