It's the final day of our Biking High Adventure. We discussed options and selected a 25 mile route starting in Rosalia. This allowed us to sleep in a little and allow us to drive home before nightfall.
We passed over the Rosalie Trestles and then east on the Palouse to Cascades Trail. Several bridges were out, requiring a down and then back up again climbs. At the one of the big bypasses, we met our SAG Wagon for second breakfast. We're going to miss those.
Further along the trail was the Seabury Bridge. This bridge didn't have railing on the sides and wasn't safe to ride across due the gaps in the wood planks that could easily swallow a bike tire. We walked across the bridge to park our bikes and came back for a photo. There was a really nice cool wind there so we took a small break there and enjoyed the breeze and view.
A few miles down the trail was the Tekoa Trestle. We crossed over the valley below on this 975 foot historic trestle. At the other end was break point and some of our parents met us there to say hi. We were only 6 miles from the Idaho border and the end of our journey.
The final leg was know for huge impassable mud holes filled with sticky mud. We found them, but the were dried up and rock solid. The rest of the trail was mostly shaded by Ponderosa pine. It smelled wonderful the and shade was a nice change from the previous 100 miles.
We reached Idaho and met with our entire support team ready to take us home. We had a short stop at Tekoa for Ice Cream and started our 5 hour ride home. For those who stayed awake for the ride home, it was amazing home far we had riding over the past 6 days. It spanned hundreds of miles of wheatfields, scablands, deserts and the the Cascades.
Our journey ended back at the camp and after quickly unloading of gear, riders joined their families and headed home.
We rode over 200 miles in the past 6 days and many more over the past 7 months for train up. What an Epic Adventure!
