Date: August 9-14, 2025
Our first day of High Adventure started out on the Homestead Valley Trailhead just past North Bend. The Trailhead to the Palouse to Cascades Trail was steep and many of us questioned why we signed up to ride 200 miles across Washington State.
Our first leg to the Hyak Tunnel was a light uphill climb. We passed over several bridges and warmed up our legs as they pushed us higher and higher to Snoqualmie pass.
The second leg of Day 1 included a nice 2.3 miles ride though the Hyak Tunnel. It was much cooler than the first leg and the smooth and flat surface was wonderful to ride on after spending the morning going uphill. We stopped just past the tunnel at the Hyak Trailhead for a SAG Wagon Supported water refill with snacks.
Leg three of Day 1 had a light downhill grade. This allowed for a must faster and enjoyable ride to Lake Easton where we would camp for the night. We rode through Easton before we got to camp and discovered that the general store and burger joint were closed down.
After a quick swim in the lake, we had a nice dinner and camped for the night.
What a great start to our adventure. We have 5 days left.
Adventure Briefing at the Church
Some Scouts already have their helmets on and are ready to go!
Everything is finally loaded up
We have a caravan of 3 Trucks, 2 Minivans, an RV trailer and a Cargo Trailer
At the Trailhead and Ready to start our Adventure
Two and a half miles through the Snoqualmie Tunnel
The road surface was smooth and wet and relatively flat
It wasn't as cool in temperature as it was last time we road through here
We made it through the Snoqualmie Tunnel and have arrived at Hyak
This is our halfway point and the rest of today's ride is downhill!
Our SAG Wagon Team set us some shade for us and has water and snacks for us!
Riding was much easier on the way down from Hyak. The downhill grade made riding easier, faster, and cooler with the increased airflow.
We apparently weren't done with tunnels yet. This one was darker than you would think, especially if you didn't remove your sunglasses.
This unique bridge with bends in it traverses over water and a railroad
We should be very close to camp now
We made it to camp at Lake Easton using the secret shortcut on the east side of camp after riding through Easton
