We celebrated our veterans with a special Veterans Day celebration!

We served a steak lunch and had front row VIP seating for our veterans. Our veterans are proud of their service in defending our nation. When we honor our veterans, we reflect our pride and patriotism in saluting our nation’s heroes, their military values, and their tradition of answering the call to duty.

This year, for the first time, we reached out to St. James Cathedral for their famous Cathedral Pipe Master, who has been a resident of 32 years. Master Tyrone dressed neatly in a gray Bagpiper uniform blew out the 132 years old Great Highland Pipe which made in 1890. The music from the pipes was to honor the soldiers that were wounded and lost their lives. Our veterans and the residents were entertained and had many questions about the bagpipes.

Mountlake Terrace Troop 60 scouts and Pack 76 cubs also stopped by to honor our veterans. They assisted us in the conservatory by cleaning our yard after a few windy nights. They led a salute and recited the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the flag ceremony. The flag ceremony is one of the ways we teach our children patriotism.

We closed the ceremony with a thank you speech by our Executive Director and he handed out certificates to our veterans. Then the scouts and cubs retired the flags from the poles and joined us for refreshments and quality time with our veterans and residents!
