Sleeping pad - nothing too big - stay under 1lb if possible
Tent - 2 person backpacking tent to share with tent and trail buddy -
Backpack - 50-60Liter pack. No smaller but up to a 65 can work - Try to stay under 4-5lbs
Cooking Gear
Cooking stove with pot to boil water - Can be shared with buddy
Fuel
4oz canister work for 1 Scout
8oz canister needed for 2 Scouts
Maybe pack an extra 4oz canister
Spork, pocket knife and drinking cup
Sparker or small lighter
Biodegradable soap
Water
1 liter water bottle - like a Smart Water bottle - can use 2 or have extra water bags that come with filter
Sawyer squeeze water filter or equivalent - EVERYONE should have own filter
Clothing
Sturdy hiking shoes with good insoles and cushion support
2 pairs socks - non cotton (Mr. B recommends 6, but 4 is probably reasonable)
2 pairs underwear - non cotton
1 pair skins pants and base layer shirt - long sleeve preferred
Wicking t-shirt - like a Class B
Long sleeved button down shirt - nice for camp
Fleece and or puffy coat - depends on how cold tolerant you are and weather forecast
Rain shell
Slides (optional but nice to rest feet with) - [this is what Mr. M calls slippers - because you slide your feet into them]
Hiking pants (or shorts) - convertibles work best. If shorts - I would get long pant underwear
Essentials
Sunscreen/Sunglasses
First aid items - moleskin, Benadryl, Tylenol, band aids, hand sanitizer, nail clippers
Food storage - hang bag preferred over bear canister
Headlamp and extra batteries.
Compass/map
Quick dissolving TP
