This Saturday is our 20-miler.  This is a great event for Scouts prepping for High Adventure, working on the Hiking Merit Badge, or who want to see what they can do.  Scouts interested in walking part of the way to complete rank advancement or to see how far they can go are invited to walk with a parent.  They can stop at any point (with their parent) and can be easily picked up by our roving team if needed. 

Scouts will need the following:

• Appropriate footwear (you'll know by the end of the trip if it was appropriate)

• Appropriate clothing

• Water Bottle

• Snacks - we DON'T want hangry Scouts

• Lunch

• Extra Socks

• Blister kit

• Way to carry this stuff

If you want to bring extra shoes, drinks, or snacks, you are welcome to throw them in the rover cars.  That said, the rover cars may be busy shuttling other people.   

We are NOT expecting Scouts to carry 30+ pound packs for conditioning.  If they do so and fall behind, they will need to be picked up early or walk with a parent. 

Weather 

Plan for morning showers or all-day showers.  Temps likely to be in the high 50s.

Plan to bring extra dry socks and light rain gear.  

Route

We have selected: Magnuson Park to Marymoor Park - One Way with Totem Pole Finish

See https://www.troop60.co/activities/hiking-and-backpacking/20-milers for details and checkpoints.  It is flat, paved and has easy access to the roads.  Scouts will need to keep an eye out for bikers.

This is a point to point route.  The Start Point is DIFFERENT from the End Point.  It's a 15 mile, 25-minute drive across the 520 bridge (or 20 miles, 40 minutes back the way we came) back to the Start Point.

Plan to be dropped off and picked up at different locations.  If you wish to leave a vehicle at the end point and shuttle to the start point or get a ride back to the start point at the end, please coordinate with others on this trip. 

We will meet at 8 AM at the start point and leave shortly after that.  If you and your Scout decide to stop early and get picked up, you MUST check out with Mr. B.

We plan to call for rides when we reach the 116th underpass.  This is the 16.5mile point and that gives drivers about an hour to get to Marymoor.  Finish time is expected to be between 3:00-6:30pm.
