Icelandic Jamboree Gear 2024

​Things to Consider:

• Airline maximums for Icelandic Air:

  • Carry-on Baggage

    • Maximum size (including handles and wheels): 21.6x15.7x7.8 inches (55x40x20 cm)

    • Maximum weight: 22lbs (10kg)

  • Checked Baggage

    • Combined height + length + depth of the bag is 62 inches/158 cm

    • 1 bag (50 lbs / 23 kg)

• You need a Tent and Sleeping Bag

• Rugged Hiking Shoes are needed. Break them in prior to departure

• Sun gear & Rain gear  

Camping Equipment:

❑ Day Pack (use as your carry-on)

❑ Tent (share packing with tent-mate)

❑ Sleeping bag and pillow

❑ Sleeping pad or lightweight cot

❑ Personal mess kit (dishes/utensils/cup/mesh bag)

❑ Headlamp (You may not need this in Iceland)

❑ Nice to have: Camp Chair (light weight)

Clothes:

Icelandic summer weather is usually between 50-59 F (10 to 15 C).  It will rain at times and gale winds are common.  Be prepared for temps to drop to freezing at times, especially on some of our hikes.  You MUST be prepared to hike on wet trails in the rain.

• Packing cubes, zippered bags, compression bags really help with keeping your gear organised and compact.
