We did a 10 mile hike around Lake Union. We started in Gasworks Park and headed east the the UW. The UW was already starting to fill up with students in graduation gowns and parents taking pictures. We got back on the Burke Gilman Trail and later cross the University Bridge to the east side of Lake Union. The east side of the lake lake sidewalks and shared the road with other walker, bikers and about 2-3 cars. Our route took us to the stairs under I-5 and up towards Volunteer Park. Everyone felt the stair, especially the adults.
After heading back down to the lake, we followed it along the shorefront to the Center of Wooden Boats. We used the restrooms and filled up our water bottles. Mr. M got everyone tacos and a few people visited the Dragonboat Fest. We followed a much nicer trail on the west shore of the lake and stopped for ice cream. We went back under I-5 and then across the Fremont Bridge. We walked by "Waiting of the Interurban", a giant Rocket and then a huge statue of Lenin. Heading east we finally got to the Troll under the Bridge. It was huge and had a poor VW Beetle in its hands.
Several Scouts raced back to the park and we finished off our hike a bit past 1PM. We still had rest of the day to explore.
