When Troop 60 plans High Adventure, it's no joke. We traveled over 70 miles from Steven's Pass to Snoqualmie Pass.
Note: Our Adventure Debrief is available for future planning.
We completed Section J of the Pacific Crest Trail. This High Adventure Afoot spanned over 70 miles through rugged terrain, steep climbs and harsh weather. It was an epic adventure for those lucky enough to be part of the trip.
Unloading at Stevens Pass
Filling out our Wilderness Tag and getting ready to move out
The Start of Section J
Our journey starts with the first switchback of many to come
Looking into Jossaphine Lake
Hope Lake in the Morning
This was our secondary camp spot and Mig Lake was full
The previous night was busy as we evacuated 3 injured crew members
So much scree to cross
Lake Trap
Glimpse of Surprise Lake from the PCT
Fearless Leader has lunch and a foot break at Glacier Lake
Giant scree fields as we journey towards Pieper Pass
You can see our members above on a scree switchback
This used to go to Surprise Gap
Short break before Pieper Pass, looking into Glacier Lake
We made it to Deception Lakes to camp out
One of our Scouts injured their ankle on the scree and was evaluated by our medic
The group discussed options and we would see in the morning how much help our injured crew member would need
The primary plan was to aid our injured friend to a pressganged Evacuation Point and likely evac the entire crew at that point
2-days into our trek, and tomorrow may be our last
We survived the night fighting off mosquitoes and field mice
One of our Scouts got sick and vomited but was feeling better in the morning
Our Scoutmaster's inflatable mattress sounded like a walrus wrestling with an inflatable raft all night
Day 3 was long
Our crew split up gear from our injured friend and carried it to Deception Pass
His ankle was doing better, but it would not be safe to travel the rest of the PCT
We decided to split the team up - an escort team would carry gear and escort our injured crew member to the extraction point while the main crew continued on
After conduction a safe extraction, the escort team would travel back up to the PCT and meet the main crew at Escondido Ridge
Escort Crew stopping at Pete Lake for the night after extraction of injured Scout
Escort team heading up to Escondido Ridge from South Side
Taking a short break to enjoy the view, filter water from our full reservoir bags and take a break
Waterfall and stream coming off Chimney Glacier
Chimney Rock in distance
Tarn at Escondido Ridge
The Escort Team and Main Crew would meet here and camp for the night
It wasn't quite warm enough for a swim
Considering the small size of the this tarn, all the people who have swam in it, and a previous Norovirus Outbreak here, we opted to boil our water
Heading back down the South side of Escondido Switchbacks

Bridge south of Lemah Meadows
Ford at Lemah Creek
Lemah Creek Ford
Trial between Delate Meadows and Spectacle Lake exposed us to the sun for several miles
Delate Creek Falls on way to Spectacle Lake
First Glimpse of Spectacle Lake
We selected a campsite on the east side of the lake
It was a Long Night
Prior to he rains, lightning struck nearby and then walked its way away from our camp with each strike
Lighting and thunder was followed by high winds and heavy rains that tested our shelters
We survived the night, but didn't get a lot of sleep
Looking at Spectacle Lake form the PCT to the south
Lake before Park Lakes
Watching the clouds/fog roll in over the mountain ridge
For the rest of the day, we walked through the clouds
We were told that there are incredible view at Alaska Mountain
Ridge Lake
We spent the night here and arrived at it just started to rain
We were soaked and didn't waste any time setting up tents and seeking shelter
Several other groups came later to find that all the reasonable spots were taken
We had heavy rain all night long - but no lightning
Kendal Katwalk was pretty spectacular
That's honestly us in the fog
We didn't take many photos after the Katwalk since the Scouts were in a mad rush to get to the trailhead
They didn't stop for photos, snacks, water or even a hornet sting
We did make this one Scout stop for a photo
What a Wet Hike!
We finally made it to the finish line
We dried up, had snacks and waited for the Adults to roll in
We Made It!
From Stevens Pass to Snoqualmie Pass
Time for some Shakes!
