A challenging paddle around Jetty Island. Tricky currents from the Snohomish River and Puget Sound tides. Surprise quicksand at our beach landing. Heavy wind, current and chop as we entered the harbor, combined with lots of traffic, caused us to seek refuge in an eddy by the Coast Guard Dock. Officer Lee of the US Navy, himself an Eagle Scout, came out to lend us a hand and shuttle us to our cars rather than face too much boat traffic.
